Once you pass the Written Exams, the student is required to take the Skill Test. Before you depart for you flight, the examiner will brief you on what he will require you to do. When you go out to the aircraft, he will expect you to carry out a full pre-flight inspection, during which he will ask you some general questions about the aircraft you will be flying. You will then continue with your Skill Test which will last approximately one hour. On your return to the airfield, the examiner will de-brief you. Upon successful completion of you Skill Test, the Civil Aviation will issue your Private Pilots Licence. Our Pass Rate is 100%.

The Flying Syllabus
A minimum of 45 hrs is required for the issue of a PPL. However if long gaps occur in your training, additional revision training may be required. Our average is 50 hrs.
Basic Training.
You will first learn the basic manoeuvres required to control the aircraft, and then move on to the more advanced techniques. Once you have mastered these techniques, you will then be ready for your First Solo. The first Solo Flight, the flight you will NEVER FORGET.
Solo Consolidation.
Upon completing your First
Solo, you will consolidate with
your Instructor and then
complete 3 hours in
the circuit Solo.
Advanced Handling.
Once
you have completed your basic
training and Solo circuits, your
Instructor will familiarise you
with advanced turns, practise
forced landings and instrument
appreciation.
Navigation.
Navigation involves
planning and flying routes with
your Instructor and then
different routes on your own.
This leads on to your Solo
"Qualifying Cross Country"
flight. Not quite as exciting
as your First Solo. Further instrument flying
may be required to reach a total
of 4 hours.
The training will then culminate
with the Skill Test with a DCA approved Examiner.

The majority of our students that come to Cyprus to do their training have limited time to complete the course. Our intensive training program for the Private Pilots Licence (PPL), normally takes
one month. This is considered to be best way to learn, It does however, require a great deal of commitment and intensive work from the Student. If you are not limited on the time you have to complete the course, you might consider taking your training on a part-time basis, i.e. weekly, monthly or as often as time and budget allows.
If you opt for the Intensive training, the time between flights will be spent mostly in our classroom studying for the written exams and learning the navigational skills that you require for the next stage of your training.
We at Griffon Aviation know that you will need to work hard to obtain your PPL, but we always try to make this experience as enjoyable as possible. Flying is supposed to be fun !

Griffon Aviation Operates solely from Paphos International Airport, where you will find the airspace much quieter than most European airports, and avoiding the much busier airspace at Larnaca International Airport.
Paphos International Airport operates with a single runway (11/29) that is 2700
meters long, and has a new fully modernised control tower. The airport has all the features and amenities that you would expect from an International Airport.
If you stay at the recommended accommodation centre in Paphos town, the airport and our offices are only a 10 minute drive away.
Have a look at the Airport. |
Paphos Airport has full Instrument capabilities (ILS, VOR, DME, NDB) for when you wish to enhance your PPL.
